The STARS are falling!!!

Not really. meteors are pieces of rocks, ice and dust that break off from a comet, then travel through space and happen to get pulled into Earth's gravity. These meteors are called The Perseid Meteors because they seem to come from the constellation Perseus. The meteors are travelling about 37 miles per SECOND and sometimes more than 60 per hour can be seen early in the morning before daylight.

Wacky Wednesday Activities

Since we missed our "Volcano Day" due to snow and ice.... this Wednesday we will celebrate our work with our target words and clocks with the following activities:

Reading-

ü 60 second challenge –Time to Wake Up

ü painting target words- students choice finger paint or paint brush

ü musical months- students walk around on a giant pathway of months and sight words…when music stops students much make sure they are standing on a month. If student can name month they get an extra point.

ü Take a vote season match- students take turns placing picture/word cards on the bulletin board. A committee of 3-4 classmates will sit in front of them showing their ‘vote’ for which season the card goes on.

ü snack

ü Count by 5’s to 60 challenge- Teams race to put minute numbers around a clock in correct order from 00 to 55.

ü What time is it- hour- scavenger hunt- Each student has a chart to fill in times that are reflected on others watches.
